Posting this announcement: I’ve noticed a lot of complaint recently about lack of transportation to service providers especially in rural Pierce county. As I was thinking about this problem, I began talking to my sister who works at Uber
corporate their CSR (corporate social responsibility) department. They have a program specifically for these needs and I thought it’d be helpful for all of us to know about how to apply and what they can provide.
Uber and Lyft started community initiatives to provide transportation for people in need of services to service providers, etc. A huge barrier a lot of us face is transportation to service sites. If you think your org would benefit from
Uber and Lyft’s programs here are the places to apply. Uber is launching the 2020 application soon (within the month and a global outreach) and Lyft has a one-time grant and other non-profit partners.

“Lyft will provide free or reduced price rides to nonprofit organizations doing critical work to improve life in cities. Apply here to be considered to receive
a one-time grant of Lyft ride credit to be used to support your community and further your impact.
For longer-term transportation needs, Lyft provides a platform for nonprofit partners to help get the people you care about to where they need to go, from employee transportation to volunteer and
client rides. Our Lyft Concierge service allows you to request rides for anyone, including individuals who are unbanked
or lack access to smartphones. Visit the Lyft Business page to learn more about ways that both large and small nonprofits are using Lyft to accomplish their missions.”
