While I recognize the benefits of a resource exclusively for service providers, the Coalition Listserv is designed to serve the whole Coalition. And the Coalition
is composed not just of direct service providers, but also faith-based organizations, community members, government agencies, funders, advocates, people experiencing homelessness, and probably other folks that don’t fit squarely in any box. As we often say,
anyone interested in working together is welcome – and not just at the meetings, but on the listserv as well.
This open aspect of both the Coalition and the listserv comes with some limitations – we all need to avoid sharing identifying information about the people
we serve, for instance. But the benefits of opening up our meetings and our listserv to people outside the formal provider community are numerous and worth retaining. While the Coalition has no mandate to operate in the public eye, we consistently choose the
path of total and complete transparency – and I think we are the better for it. There is no suspicion of backroom deals if you have no back room.
This may be a better topic for in person communication – I’ve spent too much time wordsmithing these few sentences already… So feel free to contact James Pogue
or I to chat, or perhaps set aside some time to lead a discussion around this topic at a coming Coalition meeting? Just let me know when and I’ll make space for it on that week’s agenda.
Thanks,

Subject: Homeless Coalition - Clients emailing the Coalition
I remember we talked about people directly emailing the Coalition for needs. I was just aware of a lady giving another lady this email chain to contact for her needs.
What did we ever decide on that? I know for me , I feel like this line of communication needs to be providers only....
Thank you.
