Gerrit's mess hall taco story could only happen at Fort Sam Houston. That's where the Army trains medics, and for some reason the Army decided potential medics needed to be handled gently.

The rest of the Army never experienced a taco at breakfast during basic training. Or two types of meat. Or the opportunity to make a menu selection.
