Hi, all,
I thought this article might lend some clues to understanding folks dealing with addiction. We hear things said about people experiencing homelessness, especially those with substance use disorders, especially from members of the public, that show that many people don't view addiction the way Dr. Maté does. I think this quote sums up how I feel, too, about the way we should view them. "And when readers tell [Dr. Maté] – sometimes accusingly, sometimes gratefully – that his work humanises addicts, he can only answer: addicts are human. The only question for him is, why has it taken us so long to realise that?"
Thank you all for what you do!
Patricia
